Outgoing WAL president Ashlyn Medina will teach a study in subtractive charcoal drawing with a focus in still life as a farewell workshop. This class will teach how to prep your surface, use your tools, build a three-dimensional object from erasure, and add detail. Paper and tape will be provided but students must bring all other supplies including a hard surface to tape their paper to. This class is meant for intermediate to advanced level artists with a minimum age of 18. Ashlyn Medina has a degree in Studio Art: Drawing and Painting from The University of North Texas. She specializes in subtractive charcoal drawings, oil painting,  installation works, and abstract expressionism. She comes from a family of educators and has taught several students the subtractive charcoal technique. Ashlyn has been hired by The West Chelsea Contemporary in Austin, TX and is moving to the Austin area in early October. It has been a joy being the President of WAL during her tenure and she will miss this community of artists dearly. She offers this workshop for those who are very interested in this technique but she would love to see any and all members before or after the class to answer any questions about her leaving.

This special event will be THIS coming Saturday afternoon at the WAL Gallery from 1-4 PM.

Cost: $100 per person

Adults and older teens
